Germain Grangier
Germain Grangier is a top French trail runner renowned for his resilience and intelligence, making his mark on European mountain trails, and achieving outstanding results on the world stage. Growing up in the French Alps, the mountains were his natural playground, where mountaineering, alpine skiing, and mountain biking shaped the foundation of his athletic journey.
Before becoming a professional trail runner, Germain worked as a geologist. When he transitioned to trail running, his perspective as a scientific observer seamlessly integrated into his athletic career. His geology background endowed him with exceptional map-reading skills, keen anticipation of terrain changes, and the endurance to stay focused through long, solitary runs, forming a unique trail running mindset of his own.
Germain's ascent in the trail running world has been a process of steady, step-by-step evolution. He placed 9th in the UTMB in early 2019, improved to 5th in 2021, and reached the podium with 3rd place in 2023. That same year, he also became the champion of the Marathon du Mont-Blanc - 90km, a race renowned for its technical difficulty. These victories across classic European trails showcased his all-around adaptability and elite technical skills, establishing him as one of the most strategically astute and enduring athletes of that year's event.
Since meeting Katie Schide in 2016, they have encouraged and grown with each other, striving together to create and witness every important milestone in their trail running careers. They are not only the perfect partners but also the best couple in the trail running community.
