Scotty Hawker
A prominent trail runner from New Zealand, Scotty Hawker has gained widespread recognition for his consistent and formidable performances, as well as his deep love for the mountains. A regular on the international trail running races, he has achieved remarkable results in top-level races, including UTMB (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc), demonstrating impressive endurance and tactical intelligence. He is regarded as one of the most competitive and experienced athletes on the course.
Scotty's journey did not begin on mountain trails, but on the football pitch - he was once a professional soccer player. In 2014, when he first ventured into the mountains for training, he was instantly captivated by the freedom and exhilaration of running through the wild. He realized this was the sport he was truly passionate about. Soon after, he lined up at the start of the HK100, finishing fifth, and ranked 12th overall in the UTWT World Trail Running Tour, firmly establishing himself among the world's elite trail runners.
He said, "Stay true to your beliefs, relentlessly pursue your dreams, never stop, never give up, you will reach your goals one day." With this spirit of constantly pushing his limits, Scotty has competed in the world's top trail running races, leaving his mark across the globe. In 2017, he made his UTMB debut, finishing 11th; in 2018, he was forced to withdraw while in fifth place due to injury; in 2019, he returned to claim a podium finish, placing third at UTMB; and in 2021, despite running with an injury, he safely and successfully completed the race, securing second place in the UTMB CCC. He has also claimed second place in the New Zealand Trail Championships - 53km and represented New Zealand at the 2016 IAAF World Athletics Championships. None of these achievements would have been possible without the unwavering support of his family.
Scotty loves embracing challenges and venturing into the unknown, enjoying every step of pushing his own limits, running farther, chasing stunning landscapes, and discovering what once seemed impossible.
